FROM THE
WEBMASTER

First and foremost, I want to personally thank you for visiting the MojoLand site.  I am in hopes that you find the site informative, entertaining, and representative of everything Odessa Permian.  The site's concept began in my head after the release of Bissinger's 'Friday Night Lights' book.  There were several bent truths in the book, and being a graduate of Permian, I found some of them offensive and not of merit.  I searched the internet long and hard and could not find any true factual information about my alma mater... other than references to 'The Book'.   Hence the creation of MojoLand.

The site began in 1996 as a personal webpage.  It was hosted by local internet service provider NetWest Online and consisted of a news page, roster, schedule, coaching staff, and playoff history of the football team.  My feeling was to post accurate information and invite the world (via the internet) into our backyard and let you see for yourself what Mojo is all about as opposed to what a sensationalist writer perceived as fact.  In 1998, the website moved from its 'taekwon1' directory to the KylGrafX.com domain.  The Ector County Independent School District was in its second phase of becoming internet friendly and having a site originating from its campus.  Along the way more and more features to the site would evolve.  Every other year the site has had a major facelift and redesign, with each of those upgrades came added information.  MojoLand broadened its information beyond football in 1999 to include:  soccer, tennis, gymnastics, and other school sports.  The ECISD finally got on track and launched their own site, which included the full athletic programs.  In 2000, MojoLand would yield to the school district site and re-focus on the football athletes and their achievements during and after dawning the panther uniform.  Being that the 'Mojo Package' consists more than just the players, added were the cheerleader and marching band pages.  More effort was made on the photography end of capturing the Mojo experience.  The booster club merchandise was added to site to help generate extra sales for the boosters, which helped out the team with the assorted expenses.  It would also aid in the financing of a hosting server with no pop-up ads.  Those charges were topping $650 a year for close to 50 gigabytes of bandwidth a month.

The production of 'FNL - the Movie' began in March of 2004 and we had an inside track.  We were the only site on the internet with daily updates and photos, being I was directly involved as a cast assistant coach.  The production crew was very helpful in explaining better camera angles and video creation.  This past year marked another first, as MojoLand added video streaming.

In its tenth year of serving the students, parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles, and you, the fans and the curious, we moved to our own domain at Mojoland.net in Spring 2005.  The site topped ONE MILLION A MONTH in Fall 2005.  Not bad for a high school football site!  For 2006, the site will feature the first ever virtual museum dedicated to the Odessa Permian history.  It is and has been an honor to share a little Mojo with you.  Being a Permian graduate, I have a special pride in Permian High School in Odessa, Texas.  Hopefully that manifests itself through this site.  Thank you for your support of Permian and the MojoLand site.

May you be blessed with life's best.
Terry Alan
