SEASON ENDS IN LUBBOCK
Lee finished with 178 rushing yards, but Lubbock
Coronado racked up 218 yards on the ground in a 44-28 win over the
Rebels in the second round of the Class
5A playoffs. Lee had to settle with trailing 17-13 at the
intermission. The Rebels took the lead
when Corey Petro scored on a five-yard touchdown run with 25 seconds
left in the third quarter. Fourteen seconds later, Kholbye Walker
returned Lee's kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown, making the score 31-21.
From there, the Mustangs never let the Rebels back in the game.
HEADS TO POST-SEASON
Lee had Cooper's number from the opening
kickoff. The Rebels exploded for 179 yards and four touchdowns on the
ground -- including two of 45 or more yards. All in the first half of
the 35-28 Rebel victory. Following a 50-yard
return on the opening kickoff, Lee drove 26 yards to score. It
appeared Cooper was prepared to answer from Lee's 26-yard line, but were
unable to convert on a fourth-and-four. The Rebel offense cruised
right along on five of six first-half possessions. With the win,
the Rebs will now face Mansfield Summit in the Bi-District round of the
state playoffs.
CLAIMS TALL CITY CLASSIC
The Rebels got on the
scoreboard by tearing off 79 yards on four plays, capped by Austin
Jumper's 10-yard run to cut it to 14-7. Jumper was back in the endzone on the next possession, going in from six yards out to make it
14-14 with 27 seconds remaining in the half. In the fourth quarter
Lee put the game away in the 35-26 victory. Josey Childs scored
on the first of two 1-yard runs which gave Lee a 21-20 lead. Amieul Carr and the Rebels wasted no time taking
over on a 40-yard touchdown to make it 28-20, and the Rebels
finally had a cushion.
BOMBS BRONCHOS 51-14
Lee entered the game with Odessa High, needing something to
stabilize the rollercoaster season. The Rebs got on track in the
third quarter with a barrage of four touchdowns en route to a 51-14
domination of the Bronchos. Adam Votaw and Kyle Logsdon forced a
fumble and Casey Forga nabbed the ball and returned it 62 yards for a
touchdown to give the Rebels a 23-14 advantage - the blow-out began.
Lee finished with 209 yards on the ground and 116 through the air,
despite throwing just 12 passes all evening.

DROPS DISTRICT OPENER
You
make too many mental mistakes against a team like Permian and the
outcome isn't going to be good. It wasn't, as Permian handed
the
Rebels a 31-7 loss in Ratliff Stadium. After a scoreless first
quarter, Lee found itself trailing 14-0 at the half. The Rebels
finally got on the scoreboard near the end of the fourth quarter.
Jason Nash found Dylan Smith on a 12-yard touchdown pass, and Zach
Starnes secured the extra point for the Rebs. The defeat has Lee looking
for quick answers before Abilene rolls into town October 19.

'D' PLAYS TOUGH IN 10-0 LOSS
The
Rebels traveled to Abilene to host the Mesquite Skeeters. The
defense showed up and kept Kelly Page and Adrian Richards in check.
The Lee offense failed to get rolling in the 10-0 loss in Shotwell
Stadium. Neither team scored in the first quarter.
As the
game approached halftime, Mesquite navigated a drive capped off with a
11-yard TD pass from Page to Richards. On the ensuing kickoff, the Skeeters recovered an onside kick and two plays later would kick a
46-yard field goal to take a 10-0 lead. Neither team could score
in the second half.
DEMOLISHES WESTERNERS
In
their first road game of the season, the
Rebels gave a steady dose of smash-mouth football to Lubbock High.
After taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Lee erupted with another
28 points in the second quarter to enjoy a 42-0 halftime lead.
Several secondary
Lee personnel got involved in the second half. They would add 21
points to the Rebel lead in the 63-0 demolition of the Westerners at Lubbock's Lowrey Field.
The afternoon provided a solid team showing by the LHS offense, defense,
special teams, and backup players.
HOMECOMING PLOWED
As
if a preview of things to come, the
Rebels opened the game fumbling the kickoff and Lubbock Monterey
converted it into a touchdown. Lee trailed 28-7 at the half and Sidney
Drake was named as Homecoming Queen in the intermission. In the second
half, the Rebels would rally back to narrow the margin to seven, 28-21.
The fourth quarter comeback was cut short when the Plainsmen nailed a 40
yard field goal to stretch the lead to 31-21. Lee had one last
chance to score, but failed a 4th-and-4 on the Monterey 30 yard line. PLAY-BY-PLAY
RIDER RALLIES PAST REBELS
The
Rebels held a 28-14 lead at the half, but in the fourth quarter Wichita
Falls Rider responded to hand Lee a 42-35 loss. The Rebs
scored early in the fourth to take a 35-21 lead, but Rider answered back
in a flurry of big-play scores. Eric Ward returned the ensuing
kickoff for a 98-yard touchdown and then caught a 75-yard touchdown pass
to tie the score. The Raiders would score again on a 50-yard blast
to give Rider the lead. Lee drove down the field but failed to
convert on fourth-and-goal from the Rider seven-yard line.

CHALKS UP SHUTOUT
Jason Nash scored on the first play on a
54-yard pass to Corey Petro. The defense took over from there by
recovering a fumble and snagging four interceptions as the Rebels
dominated North Crowley 23-0 in Grande Stadium. Amiuel Carr scored the
game's second touchdown on a seven-yard run. Zach Starnes provided
the only scoring of the second half when he nailed a 23-yard field goal.

FANS MEET THE REBELS
The Rebel Mom's Camp
was held
August 14 at the Lee campus. Coach Quisenberry and his
staff spent the evening with moms and the female supporters of the
Rebels. The session covered player positions, executing blocks,
how to tackle, and more. Friday's constant
drizzle didn't discourage the many fans and supporters out to catch a
glimpse of the 2007 Rebels. The gathering also marked the first day of practicing in pads. Several drills and plays were ran as the Rebs prepare
for North Crowley for the Midland
Football Madness game.

STATE 7-ON-7 TOURNEY
It took the Rebels a full game to settle
down and play their kind of ball as Lee fell to Rockwall by a score of
41 to 34. In the second game, Lee disposed of Rosenberg Terry
27-19. The Rebels had a chance to win the pool, but
Weslaco scored at the end of the game to win 26-25.
The Rebs were to face Cedar Park in
the Consolation bracket opener, but the coaching
staff decided to call it quits when heavy rains hit College Station. The trip was the first Lee appearance in
state 7-on-7 competition.
