BIG SPRING,
TX --
For the second week in a row, Odessa Permian had
to deal with questionable officiating in their victory over the Big
Spring Steers, 48-27. Permian's Jermaine Swearington and David
Durell played with a mission, and accomplished their goal in Memorial
Stadium.The Steers struck first
on a 41-yard pass from Tye Butler to Curtis Woodruff, that would
amount to the only touchdown of the first quarter. The Panthers would answer with three straight scores
in the second quarter. Permian would add 21 more in the fourth
quarter.
Durrell ran for three TDs and threw for one - a 49-yarder to Charlie
Johnson. It would be the only completed pass of the game for
Mojo.
Durell finished with 111 yards rushing, and tailback Jon McDowell
rushed for another 152. Swearington had an 80-yard touchdown
run, that was called back after a late flag was thrown to negate the
scoring run.
