ABILENE
HIGH AT LUBBOCK MONTEREY
The Eagles and Plainsmen
were involved in a game at Lowrey Field that was called after the first
half due to bad weather. Because Abilene led 17-0, the Eagles were
declared the winner. AHS had the ball four times in the first
half. They scored on three of those possessions, on 7-yard and 3-yard
runs by Flye and on a 28-yard field goal by Brandon Hill. The
Plainsmen were able to gain good yardage through the air, but the AHS
defense was dominate against the run and limited Monterey to seven yards
rushing.
MIDLAND
AT EL PASO CORONADO
Midland High's Micah Haynie rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown
as the Bulldogs de-feathered the Coronado Thunderbirds 31-6. Trey
Hill opened the scoring for Bulldogs with a 10-yard interception return
for a touchdown. The Midland defense allowed Coronado 203 total yards,
but kept the T-birds off the scoreboard until a 1-yard run by Diego
Davila with 11 seconds remaining in the game.
Abilene Cooper was idle and Odessa High's
game with Frenship was cancelled at halftime, with the Tigers winning
7-2.
