REBELS GET BEST OF COUGARS IN SECOND OVERTIME
Lee's first play of its second overtime possession gave the Rebels a 33-30 double overtime victory over Abilene Cooper. Cory Loudermill took the handoff from Jason Nash in Lee's base spread formation.  It looked like he was going to be dropped for a gain of less than five yards. But he kept his feet, breaking at least two tackles and scampering into the end zone for the game-winning score from 25 yards out.

Clawing their way back from an early 21-7 deficit, Zach Stewart led the Cougars on a comeback to tie the game in the second half.  He accounted for both of Cooper's touchdowns in the final 24 minutes of regulation as he ran for a 10-yard score midway through the third quarter and connected with wide receiver Hunter Dunn with 8:14 remaining.  Stewart later hit Lane Wise on the two-point conversion to tie the game at 27-27.  Cougar kicker Coyt Hagelstein nailed a 26-yd field goal, giving Cooper a 30-27 lead before the fatal Rebel run.

Stewart finished the game with 334 yards, the most passing yards Lee has given up this season, and completed 23-of-40 passes. But Stewart was 2-of-7 in the two overtime periods for 16 yards.  Nash finished the game completing 8-of-24 passes for 127 yards with two interceptions. While Loudermill and Carr did much of the work getting the Lee offense into scoring position during the game, Corey Petro did the work near the goal line. Petro scored the Rebels other four touchdowns in the game, including two 1-yard runs and runs of 7 and 2 yards.

EAGLE STREAK CONTINUES IN BRONCHO DEFEAT
Eagles quarterback Spens Lackey rushed for three touchdowns and passed for two more in a 42-30 victory over Odessa High.  Abilene High won its 16th consecutive district game and will face Weatherford at 6 p.m. Saturday at Wichita Falls in the bi-district round of the Class 5A Division II playoffs.

The game started off well for the Bronchos as they forced a fumble on the Eagles’ second play of the game, taking possession at the Abilene High 34-yard line.  David Camacho scampered 32 yards to the 7 and then Malcolm Hunt powered into the end zone on the next play. A bad snap on the extra point ended as a two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.  The Eagles moved the next drive 73 yards in 11 plays before Lackey connected with Cortney McDow from the 5 with 6:45 to play in the opening quarter.  The Eagles then took advantage of a short field to take the lead, having to travel just 32 yards after a short punt, with Lackey rushing over the left side from the 4 with 9:50 left in the first half.  Abilene High extended the lead with another short drive, this time from 29 yards after a 26-yard return by Keith Brown. Lackey drove the Eagles to the end zone in two plays.  Brandon Williams carried the ball 35 yards on first play and then Lackey again scored from the 4 with 1:22 left before halftime.

Lackey finished 14-of-19 passing for 140 yards while rushing 11 times for 69 yards. He scored twice on 4-yard runs and added his third touchdown on a 15-yard keeper.  McDow caught both touchdown passes from Lackey.  The Bronchos were led by quarterback Camacho, who rushed for 123 yards on 26 carries and passed for 173 yards and three touchdowns on the night.
