end of the game, Midland's defense was in complete control. Baron Batch ran for 181 yards and
had three TDs.
DAWGS ARE IN
AFTER 24-9 WIN The Bulldogs needed a win over Odessa High to advance and walked
out of Ratliff Stadium with the victory. The game
remained close at the half with MHS holding on to a 10-9 haltime
lead. The Bulldog defense forced five OHS turnovers, while
the offense added two more scores in the second half.

offense in the 31-20 Midland High loss. Baron Batch and the
Dawgs earned 352 yards of offense, but five fumbles negated the effort
in Grande Comm Stadium.
NO-MO-MOJO IN

Odessa's Ratliff Stadium. MHS tailback Baron Batch scored three
touchdowns and finished with 112 yards on 17 carries. Brandon

compiled
384 total yards, while the defense only allowed 77.

1 and 32 yards. Charles Roseberry was 9 of 15 for 121 yards
passing with two TDs, plus 86 yards rushing, including another

DAWGS CAN'T ANSWER IN FOURTH Clinging to a 7-0 halftime score, Midland failed to respond to the Monterey
Plainsmen's 14 point fourth quarter in the 28-24 loss in Lubbock's Lowrey
Field. Baron Batch contributed 211 rushing yards on 24 carries and 26

KEEPING PACE WITH 2002 SEASON

mirroring the Dawgs' 2002 state title run season. Baron Batch
continues to rack up yards over pre-season opponents, claiming 174 yards on
22 carries and scoring two touchdowns against El Paso Coronado.
Midland buffered their lead and never looked back in the 41-6 rout of the
T-birds. Bulldog kicker Kyle Davis added field goals of 37 and 27
yards.
DAWGS DISPOSE OF MUSTANGS, 42-13
The Bulldog defense took a while to get on track, but when they did
Lubbock Coronado was in big trouble. The Mustangs scored on their
first two possessions in Lubbock's Lowrey Field. After those first two
scores, Coronado was shut down offensively. Defensively for the
Mustangs... the MHS offense moved the ball pretty much 'at will' all night
long. Baron
Batch had 247 yards on 18 carries in the Dawgs' victory.
SCRIMMAGE HAS DAWGS LOOKING GOOD
Midland, Euless Trinity, and
Dallas Carter met in Bedford, Texas for a tri-scrimmage on Friday. The
Dawgs began the scrimmage on defense against the Carter offense. The
ball was spotted on the offense's 40 and each team had ten plays to move the
ball. Midland didn't have any problem, holding Carter to just one
first down in the series, including three plays for negative yards. On
offense, Midland took the field against Trinity and moved the ball, picking
up three first downs. Overall, the Dawgs fared well against both
opponents on both sides of the ball. Good job Dawgs!

became only the fourth in school history to pass and run for over 100 yards
in the same game. Melugin ran for 176 yards and a pair of scores on 24
carries, while passing for 118 yards and completing 10-of-11. Ignacio

each and combined for three touchdowns. The defense gave up only 160
